Stop the world! I need to catch my breath!

Well, school has been in again for nearly 2 months, and we're about to do our first quarter grading.  I can't believe time flies so fast.  I have my first program next week - American Folk Songs.  In the program, we sing songs and tell the history in the USA at the time the song was written.  It includes some history - and MUSIC - oh yea, I teach MUSIC!!!  Sometimes I feel the other teachers at the school think of my class as their "prep" time, and whatever happens is OK, so long as they get their time off.  They also feel that I should include some of their social studies materials in our programs!

David is full force into marching band.  It is always so busy this time of year for those marching junkies.  He is busy also with his difficult classes - spanish, A.P. physics, honors math, english, and Arizona history.  

We have completed the acquisition of the properties to complete the 1031 exchange.  We now own rental homes here in Arizona and in Ohio.  Two of the homes here need work so we can get renters in them.  Hopefully we'll get that taken care of in the next month or so.  But first, we have to take care of:

WATER LEAKS AND SEWER PROBLEMS at our home.  Sunday morning, we discovered a huge bulge in the ceiling of the sewing room.  Water was dripping very slightly, so nothing got wet.  Jack cut the wallboard and a huge gush of water came down - fortunately we had plastic down to protect everything.  The next night, the sump pump in the basement quit and flooded the carpet in the hall down there.  When it rains, it pours . . . . .  (literally!!!)

On the lighter, and happier side, Amie had her baby on September 17th.  You can read her blog and see pictures of our new cutie, Jayden Lynn Jensen.  She weighed 7 lbs, 10 oz, and was 20 1/2 inches long.  I was blessed to be able to be at the birth and to stay a week to help out.  What a precious time.  I will always treasure my memories of that special event.

My time in Utah coincided with Brian's 2 week leave, and I was also able to spend a little time with him.  He is back in the war zone.  We should all pray for his safety.
